Shauna Elton Bio

Shauna is an independent dancer, choreographer and actor. She graduated from the Contemporary Dancers professional program with a BFA Honours in 1994 and went on to dance with Le Groupe Dance Lab (artistic director Peter Boneham) in Ottawa until 2001. She has worked with many outstanding choreographers from around the world, including Toronto, Winnipeg, Montreal, Vancouver, Spain, Mexico, London, Scotland, Belgium and Berlin. As a choreographer she has produced her own work in Ottawa for Le Groupe’s Studio A Series, The Ottawa School of Dance, and the Canada Dance Festival. She has choreographed pieces in Vancouver for Mainly Dance, 12 Minutes Max, the Vancouver Dance Festival and Dances for a Small Stage. Most recently she presented works at Join the Crowd, commissioned by the Ottawa Council for the Arts. Her theatrical pursuits include independent film, documentaries, and television as well as theatre. She is currently based in Vancouver and has recently certified as an Ashtanga yoga instructor.

Class Description

Shauna teaches a centre class, very dynamic and full of energy. Her style is based on her training with Le Groupe Dance Lab under the Direction of Peter Boneham. She also incorporates her training with Linda Rabin in continuum movement. Her class is diverse with challenging choreography, physicality, focus awareness, combinations across floor, stretching and most importantly charged with a love of dance and fun.
