Born in Vernon, B.C., raised in California, Megan completed
her BA in Dance and Film at the University of California, Berkeley then
relocated to New York City. There she danced extensively in the companies
of Merce Cunningham, Lucinda Childs, Douglas Dunn, and Kenneth King.
After a decade of dancing and teaching internationally she entered the
University of New York graduate dance therapy program and the Helix
Institute for Psychotherapy. She left her work as a dance therapist
for inner city youth and their families to relocate to British Columbia.
Megan has been teaching contemporary technique at SFU for the last 5
years.
Class Description
Megan's classes are based on Cunningham principles of
dance; stressing frequent changes of weight--rhythm--and direction.
Special attention is given to placement, the use of the torso, and leg
work. Classes begin center standing.
