Class Description
Edmond’s class is influenced by his extensive
work with David Earle’s Graham / Limon based technique, along
with the foundations of ballet. The class begins at the barre, working
through a succession of exercises that encourage the upper body to develop
an active and coordinated centre. Adagio in centre consists of extensions
on and off the dancer’s centre while beginning to carve through
space. A fan combo is designed to move through space more vigorously
adding elements of turn, battement and spiral. These elements are further
developed in traveling exercises across the floor and jump combinations
that emphasize flight, coordination and flow.
The class is intended to build the foundations of
technique in combinations that provide an exploration of movement and
a sense of dance.
