Training Subsidy Program (TSP)
Ongoing training and professional development are a crucial part of a career. Regular physical conditioning maintains your body as an instrument, relevant opportunities for artistic development engage your mind as an interpreter and creator, and on-going, consistent technical training keeps you current. In combination, these activities position you as an active and employable member of the professional community.
Independent Artists, Collectives and Solo Artist companies are a growing force in the canadian dance ecology. The company that can afford to offer their dancers company class is a rarity rather than the norm, ongoing training and professional development have become the financial burden of the individual artist - a cost that stretches already tight personal finances....
The Training Subsidy Program (TSP) responds to this condition in the professional dance community by providing financial subsidies for ongoing dance training, physical conditioning and artistic development.
The TSP is operated on a national level through each CADA chapter and aims to:
- Improve the socio-economic status of the participants,
- Contribute to job readiness and improve levels of employability,
- Ensure that training and professional development remain a vital and affordable part of a career in dance, and
- Contribute to the development of the dance milieu and to a new generation of dance artists.
Scope
Whether you are a member of the BC Chapter or Ontario Chapter you can be reimbursed for training taken anywhere in Canada with any teacher.
Each chapter's Training Subsidy Program is currently funded separately and therefore the coverage of each program is slightly different.
If you live in Quebec, please contact Le Regroupment Quebecois de la Danse about their subsidy program as well as their other excellent services....
